RACHAEL WESTBERRY
She was baptised in 1823 by her father along with her sister, Amelia. She was still Rachel Westberry at that time.
Some claim that the Rachel Westberry baptised in 1823 was the wife of Josiah Westberry. There is no proof that his wife was ever accepted into the church as a member before this date.
This is a father that is baptising his children, he would do them together.
Also, all the references that are supposed to pertain to Rachel Westberry marrying a James Moody, pertain only to a James Moody that married a Rachel, no maiden name ever presented. It is another, “according to family tradition” stories, that always prove wrong in the Westberry family, ala Charlton Westberry.
My 4th great grandfather was Moses Westberry, I am new to genealogy and in researching my grandmother Essie Womack Skipper’s family found that her mother was Frances Oliff Moody 1866-1932 whos Father was James M Moody Sr, he was listed as the son of Rachael Westberry Moody, not her husband, her mother was Elizabeth Bennett, and father Moses Westberry
