C. E. Westbury Awarded Ten Year Elevator Master Merit Certificate
Mr. C. E. Westbury of the Federal Grain Ltd., at Glamis, Sask. has been awarded a Ten Year Elevator Master Merit Certificate. This award is granted by Grain Insurance and Guarantee Company in recognition of proficiency in the care grain elevator premises and to earn this, an elevator agent must have a perfect record for ten consecutive years.
Inspections of all plants insured by Grain Insurance and Guarantee Company are carried out by Affiliated Inspection Bureau Limited which has for the past twenty-five years majored in the inspection of grain elevators, flour and feed mill properties, etc. The Bureau’s inspection services is acknowledged by all as being extremely thorough and exacting. Winning the award is therefore recognized as an outstanding achievement by the grain trade and fire prevention authorities throughout Western Canada.

April 25, 1963 – Lynx At Glamis
An unusual sight was seen at Glamis on Friday morning when men at the elevators saw a lynx ambling down the main street of the hamlet towards the east. Cliff Westbury shot the lynx, an animal which has never been seen before in this vicinity.

Obituary of Mr. Clifford Westbury

Mr. Cliff Westbury, 55, formerly of Beverley and Swift Current, residing in Penticton, B.C. died July 1, 1974 at Penticton, B.C. Services were held July 4, 1974. Interment was in British Columbia.
Mr. Westbury is survived by his wife, Laura, of Penticton, B.C., two daughters, Gail [Mrs. Howard Brunton] of Canwood, Sask. and Miss Janice Westbury of Kamloops, B.C., and son, Glen Westbury of Prince Albert, Sask., and one grand-daughter and a brother, Roy.
Mr. Westbury married the former Laura Dyer on December 3, 1947. Mr Westbury resided at Success, Glamis and Shellbrook, Sask., before moving to B.C. in 1970.

Notes for LAURA GLADYS DYER:
Mrs. Laura G. Westbury passed away October 22, 1986 in Penticton, B.C. after a lengthy illness. Funeral services were held October 24 in the Penticton Funeral Chapel with Rev. David Heath officiating. Interment followed in Lakeview Cemetery.
Pallbearers were nephews Orville Dyer, Penticton, Roger Dyer, Vancouver, John Dyer, Calgary, Jim Tooke, Brooks, and Howard Brunton, Shellbrook, son-in-law and Luke Meixner, Kamloops, son-in-law.
The deceased is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Howard Brunton [Gail] Shellbrook, Sask., Mrs. Luke Meixner [Janice] Kamloops, B.C., one son Glen Westbury [Lyn] Innisfail, Alta., five grandchildren, Stacey, Stephen and Carma Brunton, Candice and Krista Westbury, four brothers , John Dyer [May] Penticton, Stan Dyer [Betty] Calgary, Alan Dyer [Tillie] Calgary, Chester Dyer [Nan] Moose Jaw and two sisters, Hazel Tooke, Brooks, Dorthy Hendry [Albert] Swift Current, also many nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by her husband, Cliff Westbury, in 1974, her mother, Laura Dyer, May 26, 1981, her father, Joseph Dyer, Jan. 27, 1980.
The late Laura Westbury was born June 28, 1922 at Kelso, Sask. attending school there, also Chaplin and normal in Regina. Later she taught at New Hastings, Glenside, Burnham and Swinton. United in marriage to Cliff Westbury Dec. 2, 1947 living at Swift Current, Success, Glamis and Shellbrook moving to Penticton in 1970 due to her husband’s ill health. Laura worked in a variety store in Penticton until a year ago when ill health forced her to retire. She loved golfing, bridge and her home and family above all. She will be deeply mourned by her family and sadly missed by her many friends. Donations to the cancer fund will be greatly appreciated by the family.

Notes for JANICE LEE WESTBURY:
Baskets of flowers decorated the United Church chapel for the wedding of Janice Lee Westbury and Luke Meixner.
Janice is the daughter of Mrs. Laura Westbury of Penticton, B.C. and Luke is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Meixner of Enderby, B.C.
Rev. Frank Chubb officiated at the double ring ceremony, accompanied by organist Mrs. Eleanor McDonald.
Entering the chapel , escorted and given in marriage by her brother, Glen Westbury of Innisfail, Alta., the bride wore a floor length gown in an empire style of polyester-interlock over taffeta. The bodice, high collar and lilypot sleeves were trimmed with French silk lace appliques embroidered with seed pearls. The skirt and long train were trimmed with a matching lace at the edge.
Her fingertip veil was held by a lace trimmed seed pearl headpiece. She carried a bouquet of cascading yellow roses, white and yellow babys’ breath.
Matron of honor was Gail Brunton of Shellbrook, Sask., sister of the bride. She wore a long gown of yellow jersey with spaghetti straps. The eyelet embroidered bodice was covered by a long sleeve georgette jacket. She carried a bouquet of yellow roses and white babys’ breath.
Attending the groom was his brother, Jerry Meixner, of Goldbridge. The groom and best man wore formal jackets trimmed with dark brown, matching ties and frilled dress shirts.
Usher was Roger Dyer of Penticton, B.C., cousin of the bride.
A reception followed at the Pilgram House. Glen Allan Westbury was MC and toast to the bride was presented by the bride’s uncle John Dyer of Penticton, B.C.
The bridal table, draped with a white, tatted tablecloth made by Inez McIsaac, featured a three tiered wedding cake decorated with yellow rosebuds, ribbon and pillars of wine glasses.
The guest register was attended by sister-in-law of the bride Lynn Westbury of Innisfail, Alta.
For going away attire, the bride wore a printed navy blue silk dress with white accessories and corsage of pink rosebuds.
Out of town guests were from Shellbrook and Swift Current, Sask., Calgary and Brooks, Alta., and Kamloops, Westbank, Enderby and Goldbridge, B.C.
The newlyweds will reside in Prince George, B.C.
