Pioneers of Wiregrass Georgia.
Henry Bennett, second son of Richard Bennett, was born in Robeson County. N. C. in 1789, and was brought by his parents to Effingham County, Ga., in his childhood. The family was soon afterwards cut into the new County of Bryan and in 1796 was taken out of Bryan and placed in the new County of Bulloch. Henry Bennett married Margaret Sheffield, born 1785 in Effingham County (now Bulloch), a daughter of William Sheffield, R. S.
Henry Bennett drew land in the 1806 land lottery while residing in Bryan County. He moved with his family from Bryan County to Appling County along with his parents, and lived there until his death about 1835. His orphans drew land in the 1838 Georgia land lottery, the land being in the 19th district of Walker, now Dade County. Mrs. Bennett, the widow, died after 1850.
