Westberry Is Granted Bond. Jeff Carter Will Remain in Jail Until September Court. Valdosta, Ga., July 26. – (Special.) – Luther Westberry, charged with being an accessory to the killing of Louis Culberth in Echols county a few days ago, was given a commitment hearing before Judge R. G. Mitchell, in this city, today, and his bail fixed at $500. It is probable that Westberry will give the bond and be released from jail. Bond was not asked for Jeff Carter, charged with the killing of Culberth, and he will remain in jail until the September term of the superior court.

Superior Court of Echols – Several Murder Trials to Be Taken Up. Valdosta, Ga., September 15. – (Special.) – Superior court in Echols county convened at Statenville Tuesday and the session will likely be the longest and most important held in the county in a number of years. There are many important criminal and civil cases which will come up at this session. Among the former are the trials of Jeff Carter and Luther Westberry, charged with the murder of Louis M. Culbreth (sp?) on July 2, the former as principal and the latter as accessory. All the parties are white. Carter is now in jail and Westberry is under $500 bond.
