Conquest United Church was the scene of a pretty wedding when on December 19th, 1970, Rev. Doreen Smith united in marriage Connie Mae Kasserman and Ernest Leroy Westbury.
The bride is the second daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Kasserman of Conquest and the groom is the oldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Westbury of Zealandia.
Given in marriage by her father, the bride was lovely in a floor length gown of white peau de charm. Her double tiered hip length veil fell from a pill box head piece. She carried a cascade bouquet of red roses.
The bride’s attendants were her sister, Iris Turner of Saskatoon, and Bonnie Barber of Conquest. They wore identical floor length gowns of peacock blue peau de charm. They carried white muffs decorated with blue roses, matching blue roses were worn in their hair.
The groom was attended by Dale Mauch of Surbiton and his cousin Earl Turner of Saskatoon. The ushers were Richard Westbury and Bob Martin, brother and cousin of the groom.
The bride’s mother wore a figured blue dress, black accessories and corsage of pink roses and white carnations. The groom’s mother wore a chocolate brown fortrel dress, gold accessories and corsage of yellow roses and white carnations.
After the ceremony a reception followed in the church parlors with Mrs. Ray Dallas at the register. Dale Mauch was Master of Ceremonies and Carl Latimer, The bride’s cousin, proposed the toast to the bride.
A social evening where the happy couple opened their gifts, followed by dancing and lunch was held in the Elks Hall, Conquest.
Out of town guest were from Zealandia, Rosetown, Tuberose, Nipawin, Broderick, Dinsmore, Eston, Wiseton, Yorkton and Saskatoon.
