(JOSIAH2, MOSES1) was born November 11, 1834 in Wayne Co, Georgia, and died March 03, 1923 in Pierce Co, Georgia. She married ISHAM D. BENNETT, CSA, #, son of JOHN BENNETT and LUCY HARRIS. He was born July 29, 1837 in Wayne Co, Georgia, and died April 27, 1920 in Wayne Co, Georgia.

Isham is shown in the 1867 Registered Voters List for Clinch Co. stating that he had been in this state for 28 years, but had lived in this County in this District for only 6 months.
Isham served as Captain in Company K, 54th Georgia Infantry of the Confederate army. His troop was captured and surrendered in Savannah, Georgia on June 15, 1865. A Private serving beneath him was Moses Josiah Westberry, his brother-in-law.

Bennett, Isham D. – Enlisted as a private in Co. A, 1st Regiment, 1st Brigade, Ga. State Troops October 3, 1861. Mustered out April 1862. Enlisted as a private in Co. K, 54th Regiment Ga. Inf. April 18, 1862. Roll dated February 28, 1863, last roll on file, shows him present. Pension records show he was at home on sick furlough close of war. (Born near Odum, Ga. July 29, 1837. Died in Wayne County, Ga. April 27, 1920.)

Mrs. I. S. Bennett Buried Sunday. Mrs. Louisiana Roberson Bennett, 95, of Route 1, Odum, died early Friday morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Jasper L. Scott, Route 2, Jesup, after an extended illness. A lifelong resident of Wayne County, Mrs. Bennett was one of the county’s oldest citizens. She was a charter member of the New Bethel Baptist Church and the widow of the late Isham S. Bennett, who at the time of his death in 1930 was the Representative of Wayne County in the State House of Representatives. Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Essie James, Odum, Mrs. Jasper L. Scott, Jesup, Mrs. Ed H. Wells of Jacksonville, Fla.; three sons, P. M. Bennett and R. V. Bennett of Brunswick, Gordon Bennett, Jesup; three sisters, Mrs. M. C. Lewis, Mobile, Ala., Mrs. Claude Cutts and Mrs. Della Moody, Jesup; 17 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held 3 p.m. Sunday from the New Bethel Baptist Church with Dr. Walter B. Feagins, Rev. Raymond Chauncey and the Rev. A. D. Stanfield officiating. Interment was in the Old Bethel Cemetery.

W. C. Bennett Dies at Macon Home
W. C. Bennett, who went to Macon 40 years ago from his native home at Jesup, died at his home in that city Thursday after a lingering illness. Mr. Bennett was born in Jesup November 20, 1868. Funeral services were held last Friday afternoon from his residence and the interment was at Riverside cemetery in Macon. Mr. Bennett was a member of the Tattnall Square Baptist Church, the Macon Lodge No. 5 F. and A.M. Franklin Lodge, I.O.O.F.; Magnolia Camp W.O.W.; and of the Macon Camp, Junior Order, at the time of his death. He is survived by his wife, who was formerly Miss Ida Freeman; two daughters, Misses Hazel and Louise Bennett, of Macon; five sons, Otis P. Bennett, of Macon; W. H. Bennett, Providence, R.I.; J. C. Bennett of Jersey City, N.J.; C. Leroy Bennett of Jacksonville, Fla., and B. F. Bennett of the U.S. Navy, now stationed on the west coast, one sister Miss Lucy Bennett of Blackshear, Ga., and three brothers, J. R. Bennett, of Blackshear; W. R. Bennett of Screven and J. S. Bennett of Jesup.

He married ANNE RUTH SMITH April 30, 1938 in Macon, Georgia, daughter of CHARLES SMITH and SARAH HALES. She was born January 13, 1919 in Macon, Georgia, and died March 31, 1984.
